Job Title: LCAS-Teacher (Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist – Educator)
Program: Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health Services
Location: Monroe, NC
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Reports To: Clinical Director / Program Manager
Position Summary
The LCAS-Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality substance use education, psychoeducation, and therapeutic group facilitation to adults receiving outpatient behavioral health services. This role combines clinical expertise with teaching skills to support clients in understanding addiction, developing coping strategies, and maintaining recovery. The LCAS-Teacher plays a key role in promoting recovery-oriented, person-centered care in a structured outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Educational Services
- Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic group sessions focused on substance use, relapse prevention, coping skills, and recovery principles
- Develop and deliver structured curriculum tailored to adult learners in outpatient treatment
- Provide individualized support and coaching during and after group sessions
- Assist in the development and implementation of person-centered treatment plans
- Document all services in accordance with state, federal, and agency standards
Curriculum Development
- Design and update evidence-based educational materials and group content
- Incorporate topics such as:
- Substance use disorders and recovery stages
- Triggers and relapse prevention
- Life skills and emotional regulation
- Co-occurring mental health conditions
- Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and literacy levels
Collaboration & Care Coordination
- Work closely with therapists, case managers, and medical staff to ensure coordinated care
- Participate in clinical team meetings and case reviews
- Provide feedback on client progress and engagement in treatment
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including confidentiality (HIPAA)
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation
- Support quality improvement initiatives and program evaluations
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Active LCAS (Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist) certification in North Carolina (or applicable state)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with adults in substance use or behavioral health settings
- Experience facilitating group therapy or educational sessions preferred
- Knowledge of outpatient treatment models and recovery-oriented systems of care
Skills & Competencies
- Strong group facilitation and public speaking skills
- Ability to engage and motivate adult learners
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices (CBT, MI, relapse prevention)
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills
- Cultural competence and trauma-informed approach
Work Environment
- Outpatient behavioral health setting
- Primarily group-based service delivery with some individual client interaction
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during group sessions
- Ability to engage actively with clients in a classroom or group setting
