Assistant Project Manager - Mechanical Contracting (Hybrid)

About the Role
American Combustion Industries (ACI) is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support our mechanical contracting team. This role works closely with five Project Managers and Senior Project Managers, helping drive successful delivery of mechanical retrofit and replacement projects—no new construction, all existing‑building upgrades.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to grow in project management while gaining exposure to fast‑paced, high‑visibility projects across the region.
What You’ll Do
Project Support & Coordination
- Manage and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documents
- Maintain accurate project logs, documentation, and shared files
- Assist with project schedules, milestone tracking, and coordination with field teams
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and follow‑up action items
Communication & Team Collaboration
- Serve as a key support resource for five PMs/Senior PMs
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and internal teams
- Distribute drawings, updates, and project information
Procurement & Cost Tracking
- Assist with purchasing materials, equipment, and subcontracted services
- Track deliveries, lead times, and procurement schedules
- Support PMs with cost updates, invoice review, and budget tracking
Technology & Tools
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Comfortable with project management platforms and digital documentation
- Ability to read mechanical drawings is a plus
What We’re Looking For
- 1-3 years of experience in construction or mechanical contracting (preferred)
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment
Detail‑oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently
Interest in mechanical systems, HVAC, or retrofit projects
Work Environment
- Primarily office‑based with telework flexibility
- Occasional site visits
- Supportive, team‑oriented environment with exposure to projects up to $15M (Project Values: $100K - $15M)
Compensation (Salary): $77 - $83K/year, based on qualifications and experience.
