Part Time Groundskeeper/Custodian

CLASSIFICATION: Groundskeeper/Custodian Grade 1 20 hours/ week Must have a flexible schedule to meet operational needs REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance POSITION SUMMARY: This position performs work of a semi-skilled nature relative to the care and maintenance of grounds and athletic fields within the District. The work is independent in nature and new assignments are received in the form of oral or written instruction from the Director of Maintenance and building principals ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Performs the general maintenance and care required for the grounds and athletic/recreational fields to include: seeding, mowing, trimming, rolling, watering, spiking, raking, etc. •Fertilizes and treats fields and other lawn areas as required •Performs routine maintenance (weeding, cleaning, painting) to walks, parking areas. •Performs regular inspections of grounds to determine needed maintenance •Keeps the grounds free of litter, debris and other objects •Empties trash receptacles •Plow, shovel snow and sand district driveways, walkways and entryways. •Maintains prescribed inventory levels of winter sand at all sites/districtwide. •Performs tree and shrub removal with consultation of the Director of Maintenance. •Performs daily inspection and maintenance on outdoor equipment •May be required to deliver district lunches and pick up and deliver mail. •May be assigned to perform custodial duties due to weather conditions and or staffing requirements •Attend training as required by the school district •Performs other job related duties as required POSITION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. •Must lift light to medium weight materials or equipment up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis, over 50 pounds on an occasional basis •This job involves standing for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing and climbing. •Must be able to travel, enter, and exit a vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. •Wearing of protective equipment per OSHA regulations is required. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: •High School Diploma or equivalency (GED) •Experience gained through employment in related grounds maintenance work and custodial work •Submit to national and state criminal background checks not later than one week prior to beginning employment; and that the offer for employment is conditioned upon their submission to the checks and receipt of favorable reports from the checks. •Requires a valid driver's license
