Must be able to readily attend in person meetings with leads, prospective customers, and external stakeholders throughout the Delmarva Power or the Pepco service areas.

Primary Purpose

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

To support company efforts to attract and retain customers for the purpose of increasing electric or gas services, the successful candidate(s) will manage site selection research, coordinate with internal large load subject matter experts, and lead interactions with interested customers. Position will perform business incentive management activities as well as lead and coordinate external economic development outreach programming. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Primary Duties

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • As lead for attracting new large load investments, position will manage the schedule of interactions with customers; coordinate deliverables and information gathering among internal subject matter experts; establish customer expectations; and ensure progress in meeting project goals. (20%)
  • Conduct detailed real estate site searches and assist in compiling proposals for early stage leads while competing against other regions to attract or retain businesses to the Pepco service area (Washington, DC and Maryland’s Montgomery and Prince George’s counties] or the Delmarva Power service area (Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore). (25%)
  • Interface with regional economic development agencies and corporate real estate research staff to obtain information on current trends and identify new business to attract and/or retain. (10%)
  • Assess business applicants for incentives program eligibility and ensure approved awardees comply with program rules. (15%)
  • Attend industry and association meetings and conferences to obtain data and trend information for use in strategic analysis. (5%)
  • Assess national and regional changes in socio-economic and business trends affecting business and industry attraction and retention. Maintain demographic, socio-economic, and land databases and maintain and refresh data and information on the Department’s website. (5%)

JOB SCOPE

  • This is an individual contributor position that works independently with only general direction, relying on knowledge, skills, and judgement acquired through education and relevant experience to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
  • Position requires routine interaction with key internal (e.g., executives, directors, managers, and staff) and external stakeholders (e.g., site location consultants, commercial brokers, and economic development research organizations).
  • Must be able to efficiently manage and follow through on multiple requests from all levels of the organization.
  • May require working extended hours and/or shift work to support business operations.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or other relevant discipline AND 4-7 years relevant business experience (e.g., economic/business development, marketing or customer management), OR in lieu of bachelor's degree, 6-9 years relevant business experience
  • Experience leveraging information resources to attract commercial and industrial customers to the area
  • Experience in the analysis of changes in socio-economic and business trends and in developing strategies to respond
  • Experience working with other organizations conducting research in Greater Philadelphia
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer skills
  • Contacts with site location consultants, commercial brokers and economic development research organizations

  • Experience with sales and customer service
  • Contacts with site location consultants, commercial brokers, and economic development research organizations.
  • Experience working with outside organizations conducting research in the Delmarva Power and Pepco regions.
  • Broad knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $88,000.00/Yr. – $121,000.00/Yr.
