What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Cloud and Strategic Initiative Co-Ordination position at Executive?
We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our team as the Head of Cloud and Strategic Initiatives Coordination. This C16-level role is pivotal in driving the coordination, prioritization, and delivery of Citi's integrated Cloud and AI infrastructure programs. The successful candidate will be a key partner to the FS, CIO, CTO, and COO organizations, transforming our cloud capabilities into a unified, secure, and financially transparent ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to lead a firm-wide modernization effort that will empower developers, accelerate innovation, and deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Program Coordination: Serve as the senior leader for coordinating Cloud and AI initiatives across technology and business units, ensuring alignment on prioritization and delivery.
- Hybrid Cloud Integration: Lead the strategy for an integrated compute platform across private (OpenShift) and public clouds (AWS, Google Cloud), creating a modernized and optimized hosting environment.
- Application Modernization: Partner with technology teams to accelerate the containerization of Citi's applications, championing a "Containerization Factory" model to drive migration from legacy systems at scale.
- Developer Empowerment: Enhance the developer experience by driving the delivery of integrated self-service capabilities, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) blueprints, and automated deployment options.
- Financial Governance (FinOps): Support the establishment of a firm-wide FinOps discipline to ensure financial transparency, cost-effectiveness, and value-driven decisions across all cloud environments.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Act as the primary liaison between Cloud Technology Services (CTS), Line of Business (LoB) CIOs, and Business Execution Leaders (BELs). Manage senior relationships and commitments with public cloud partners through established steering committees.
- Data Strategy Execution: Collaborate with data teams to implement the Integrated Cloud Data Strategy, enabling secure, scalable, and high-performance data capabilities.
- Governance, Risk, and Controls: Ensure all cloud initiatives comply with Citi's governance frameworks, including the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Security Architecture Council (SAC), while maintaining the safety and soundness of the integrated platform.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of demonstrated experience leading successful, large-scale IT infrastructure, cloud architecture, and application modernization programs.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide technology transformations within a complex, global financial services environment or an equivalent large-scale enterprise.
- Proven track record of executing major enterprise programs, specifically in Cloud or AI initiatives.
- Expert-level knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and modern application architectures.
- Deep expertise in public cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, MS Azure) and private cloud technologies (OpenShift, Virtualized platforms).
- Proven experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices.
- Strong understanding of FinOps principles with experience implementing cost optimization and governance frameworks in a hybrid cloud environment.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders across business and technology domains.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
