Position Summary:

The Federal Government Special Investigator specializes in conducting in-depth background investigations for individuals applying for security clearances or sensitive positions within the federal government. They gather and analyze information, conduct interviews, and collaborate with relevant agencies to provide accurate and well-documented security clearance recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform comprehensive background investigations for individuals seeking access to classified information or sensitive positions in the federal government.

· Gather and Analyze Information: Collect, evaluate, and analyze various sources of information to assess an applicant's suitability for a security clearance, including interviews, employment records, education history, financial data, and criminal records.

· Interview applicants, references, supervisors, and others to gather essential information. Skillfully ask relevant questions to ensure accurate and complete responses.

· Maintain detailed case files, documenting investigation activities, findings, and observations according to established guidelines.

· Coordinate and collaborate with law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies, and other stakeholders to verify information, share findings, and ensure accurate and complete investigations.

· Provide investigative reports and documentation to support the security clearance adjudication process, working closely with adjudicators and legal counsels.

· Adhere to federal laws, regulations, and guidelines related to background investigations, security clearances, and classified information protection.

· Stay updated on laws, regulations, and investigative techniques through ongoing training and professional development activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security studies, or related field.

Experience:

· Minimum 5 years of experience conducting background investigations, preferably in federal government settings, with a focus on Tier 5 investigations.

· Extensive knowledge and experience in conducting detailed Tier 5 background investigations, including interviews and analysis of sensitive information.

· Possess and maintain an active Tier 5 security clearance.

Skills:

· Understanding of federal laws and regulations related to security clearances and background investigations.

· Proficiency in investigative techniques, including interviewing, record analysis, and information verification.

· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Attention to detail and organizational abilities.

· Ability to handle sensitive and classified information confidentially.

· Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and professionalism.

Salary : $25 - $40
