Job Function
Key Responsibilities
- Contact consumers via phone and written communication to collect outstanding debts
- Negotiate payment arrangements in accordance with firm and client guidelines
- Review account documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all collection activities
- Respond to consumer inquiries regarding balances, payment options, and account status
- Handle inbound and outbound collection calls in a professional manner
- Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), state regulations, and firm policies
- Meet or exceed established performance goals and recovery targets
- Escalate disputes or legal matters to supervising attorneys as appropriate
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of collections experience (law firm or legal collections experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of FDCPA and state collection laws
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to handle high call volume and manage multiple accounts
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collections software
- Professional and respectful communication style
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
- Goal-oriented and self-motivated
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High ethical standards and commitment to compliance
