What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide civil-structural engineering leadership for substation projects, ensuring safe and cost-effective designs.
- Create and review structural designs for foundations, steel, and site layouts supporting substation equipment.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and documentation to meet utility and industry standards.
- Support design needs for permitting and construction activities.
- Perform calculations for foundations, structural supports, and containment systems.
- Lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers, and provide quality assurance on deliverables.
- Partner with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to resolve design challenges.
- Visit job sites as needed to ensure designs are implemented successfully.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited program).
- 5–7 years of experience in power delivery or utility-related civil/structural engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years in substation civil-structural design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required (any state accepted).
- Strong knowledge of substation foundation and structure design packages.
- Ability to interpret specifications, evaluate alternatives, and deliver sound recommendations.
- Experience mentoring junior staff and collaborating across engineering disciplines.
