What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Behavior Technician position at EXCENTIA HUMAN SERVICES?
SUMMARY
A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) works under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) professionals to provide therapy to individuals with autism and other developmental disorders. This would include implementing behavior plans, assist the individual with day-to-day activities, monitor behavior, record and collect data on the individual’s progress.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/MAJOR TASKS
- Provide behavior analytic services to the individual or group or individuals as directed by the BCBA professionals.
- Attend weekly supervision per IBHS guidelines.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation is submitted.
- Track and Collect data on the individual’s progress and behaviors accurately and timely.
- Assist individuals in acquiring new skills and behaviors.
- Provide behavior modification techniques under supervision of the BCBA professionals to reduce problem behaviors of individuals.
- Provide training to parents, teachers and/or caregivers on how to implement techniques in the home, classroom, and community.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the individuals.
- Maintain professional conduct at all times.
- Follow all agency and IBHS program rules, guidelines and procedures.
- Work cooperatively with families, caregivers, and team members to provide children with the best possible care and treatment.
- Provide in-person behavior intervention services.
- Implement behavior intervention and skill acquisition plans.
- Follow Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) guidelines and codes of conduct.
- Attend team meetings.
- Complete all agency mandatory trainings and BACB requirements to maintain certification.
- Understands and adheres to established policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of individuals and records.
- Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Primarily in clinic with unknown environmental challenges
- Office time with exposure to toners and ink cartridges;
- Seasonal displays may include hay, leaves, flowers, pine needles, etc.;
- Noise level can be high at times.
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
- Client may carry fluid or blood-borne pathogens.
- This is not a remote position.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS / PREREQUISITES
1. COMMUNICATION
a. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals served, supervisors, and co-workers, clients and parents of clients using strong and understandable language skills in reading, written work and comprehension.
2. SKILLS (Possess the following):
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and professional documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from parents, case workers, or members of the mental health provider community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
- Ability to use standard office computer software
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; work; sit; use hands to finger; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
3. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
Experience in a school setting preferred. Prior experience working with children in some capacity required.
4. EDUCATION
High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in special education, psychology or related field preferred.
Registered Behavior Technician certification required with at least 2 years of experience in the child delivery system working with children and their families delivering evidence based treatment.
5. OTHER
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Child Protective Service Act (Act 33) compliance and FBI clearance, NSOR, Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license and acceptable driving record per agency’s regulations required.
