Job Summary
The Imaging Technologist utilizes radiographic (X-ray) equipment to perform diagnostic procedures for evaluating patient conditions. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate patient records and supporting clinical procedures, including the removal of orthopedic casts, splints, sutures, and staples as directed by a physician.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate computer systems and radiographic equipment to obtain diagnostic images under physician and radiologist supervision
- Perform quality control procedures to ensure optimal image quality
- Prepare patients for radiographic procedures by assessing needs and providing education
- Document procedures and maintain accurate records in the EMR system
- Prepare and annotate images for physician or radiologist interpretation
- Follow radiation safety standards, including ALARA principles, and maintain equipment functionality
- Assist providers with:
- Removal of casts and splints
- Suture and staple removal
- Injection preparation
- Operate C-arm imaging equipment for fluoroscopic procedures (as required)
- Prepare sterile trays and procedure rooms for fluoroscopy-guided interventions
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality standards
- Cross-train in additional clinical functions, including patient rooming and scheduling
- Travel to and support at least one satellite location as needed
- Participate in continuing education to maintain NYSDOH licensure and ARRT certification
- Attend OSHA training, staff meetings, and departmental trainings
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements and Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Radiologic Technology
- Current ARRT certification in good standing
- Active New York State Radiologic Technologist license
- 2–3 years of experience preferred (new graduates encouraged to apply)
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs (assistance available if needed)
- Ability to assist with patient positioning and transfers
- Regular use of computers, phones, and office equipment
The pay range for this position is determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, training, licenses, designations, and the overall market conditions.
