Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, protect, maintain, and collect medical records
- Monitor physician visits and documentation for compliance
- Thin paper records as necessary
- Track incomplete records and ensure timely completion
- Produce records upon request according to corporate guidelines
- Manage medical orders and supporting documentation
- Perform QAPI checks for completeness and accuracy
- Prepare and maintain admission and readmission charts
- Supply nursing stations with proper charting and documentation forms
- Maintain daily census listings, room assignments, physician/patient lists, and admission/discharge/transfer logs
- Prepare requests for medical information as directed by leadership
- Manage patient clinical records from admission through discharge
- File and retrieve medical records for in-house patients
- Process telephone orders, maintain logs, and file completed documentation
- Maintain records in a secure and confidential manner
- Promote proper documentation, storage, and retrieval procedures
- Communicate updated processes and guidelines to staff as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all medical records and patient information
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA requirements, coding, and indexing
- Completion of coursework in medical terminology preferred
- 1–2 years of previous medical records experience preferred
- Previous office and typing experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
