Responsibilities
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs and reporting any changes to healthcare providers
- Administer medications and manage medical documentation accurately following HIPAA guidelines
- Support patients with memory care needs such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia through specialized care techniques
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to document patient progress and care activities precisely
- Use medical terminology correctly when recording observations or communicating with healthcare teams
- Safely utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts or catheter care tools to assist with patient mobility and hygiene needs
- Provide companionship and emotional support, especially for individuals with developmental disabilities or those receiving hospice or long-term care
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with light housekeeping tasks like cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe living environment
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation systems (EMR/EHR)
- Certification in CPR is required; additional certifications such as hospice care or dementia training are advantageous
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is highly valued
- Ability to lift safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and perform tasks requiring physical stamina
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and families
