Position Overview

Excel Global Security is seeking a dependable, professional, and observant Parking Lot Security Officer to provide security services at a commercial office building located in Jersey City, NJ.

The Parking Lot Security Officer will be responsible for monitoring and patrolling the building's parking facilities, controlling vehicle and pedestrian access, identifying suspicious or unusual activity, and helping maintain a safe and secure environment for tenants, employees, visitors, and their vehicles.

This position requires a responsible individual who can work independently, exercise good judgment, maintain a professional appearance, communicate effectively, and respond calmly and efficiently to routine situations and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine foot patrols throughout the commercial building's parking lot and designated surrounding areas.
• Monitor vehicle and pedestrian activity to ensure the safety and security of tenants, employees, visitors, and property.
• Monitor and control access to the parking facilities, ensuring that only authorized vehicles and individuals enter restricted areas.
• Observe and report suspicious activity, unauthorized parking, property damage, safety hazards, and other security concerns.
• Assist with maintaining an orderly flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic during peak arrival and departure periods.
• Enforce building management's parking regulations, security policies, and access control procedures.
• Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents, disturbances, and emergency situations.
• Notify building management, supervisors, or emergency services when necessary.
• Complete accurate and detailed daily activity reports, incident reports, and other required security documentation.
• Inspect parking areas, entrances, exits, gates, and other designated locations for potential security risks.
• Provide courteous and professional assistance to tenants, employees, visitors, and authorized contractors.
• Maintain communication with supervisors and building management regarding security concerns and operational updates.
• Remain alert, attentive, and visible throughout the assigned shift.
• Follow all company policies, client instructions, and established security procedures.
• Perform additional security-related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Must possess a valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) license.
• Minimum of 1 year of security experience preferred.
• Previous experience providing security services at commercial buildings, parking facilities, or similar properties is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must have strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to prepare accurate and professional incident reports.
• Must demonstrate reliability, punctuality, professionalism, and good judgment.
• Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies or stressful situations.
• Must be able to interact professionally with building tenants, employees, visitors, and management.
• Must be willing to follow all company policies and client-specific security procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the assigned shift.
• Must be capable of conducting regular foot patrols throughout the parking facilities.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Must be physically capable of responding to security incidents and emergencies within the scope of assigned duties.
