Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Candidates should demonstrate a record of, or potential for, excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and teach introductory courses in American politics as well as substantive courses in their area of expertise, including upper-level undergraduate courses and Master’s level courses. The position will also entail some service, particularly related to curriculum.
Required Qualifications
A completed Ph.D. in Political Science. ABDs will be considered but must have successfully defended their dissertation and the degree conferred by the appointment date of 9/1/2026.
Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Political Science.
Experience teaching courses in American Politics.
Experience with and interest in service, particularly related to curriculum and recruitment.
Interest in teaching and service at a sustained level sufficient to meet promotion standards.
Preferred Qualifications Special Conditions For Eligibility Department Information
The Department of Political Science (LinkedIn and Instagram) offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts. It serves students from across the University (in state-mandated introductory courses) as well as over two hundred and fifty undergraduate majors and fifteen to twenty graduate students.
The Department is part of the College of Liberal Arts, which focuses on high-quality research and teaching, including through study abroad, internships, and service learning.
