What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Associate, AI Automation Consultant position at Exbo Group?
About Exbo Group
Exbo Group is a boutique financial advisory firm serving PE-backed lower-middle-market companies. We deliver transaction services (Quality of Earnings, tax diligence), fractional CFO advisory, controllership, and corporate finance solutions. Our clients are growth-stage companies backed by private equity sponsors who rely on us as an embedded, strategic partner across the deal lifecycle and beyond.
We are building an AI-first operational culture and are looking for someone who can lead that transformation from the inside out—starting with our own processes, then extending that expertise to our clients.
The Opportunity
This is a dual-phase role designed for someone who thrives at the intersection of business operations and AI-powered automation. In Year 1, you will embed within Exbo Group to audit, redesign, and automate internal workflows across every function of the firm. In Year 2 and beyond, you will transition to our Finance Transformation practice, where you will lead AI-enablement engagements for our portfolio of growth-stage companies.
Phase 1: Internal AI Automation (Year 1)
During your first year, you will serve as Exbo Group’s internal automation architect. You will conduct a comprehensive process audit across all departments, identify high-impact automation opportunities, and build, test, and deploy AI-driven workflows using modern no-code and low-code automation platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct a full process audit across engagement management, client delivery, business development, finance, and operations to map current workflows and identify automation candidates
- Prioritize automation opportunities using an impact-vs-effort framework, focusing on time savings, error reduction, and scalability
- Design, build, and deploy automated workflows using Gumloop, n8n, Make (Integromat), Zapier, and complementary AI tools
- Integrate AI capabilities (LLMs, document parsing, data extraction) into business processes including client onboarding, QoE workpaper preparation, report generation, and CRM management
- Build AI agents and multi-step automations that connect across the firm’s tech stack (HubSpot, Google Workspace, Slack, QuickBooks, SharePoint)
- Create internal documentation, training materials, and playbooks so the team can maintain and extend automations independently
- Establish monitoring, error-handling, and governance protocols for all production automations
- Track and report ROI metrics including hours saved, error rates reduced, and process cycle times improved
Phase 2: Client-Facing AI Practice Development (Year 2 )
After proving the model internally, you will join Exbo Group’s Finance Transformation team to lead our AI practice and help growth-stage companies transform into AI-enabled firms.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead AI readiness assessments for PE-backed portfolio companies, evaluating their operational maturity and automation potential
- Design and deliver AI transformation roadmaps for clients across finance, accounting, operations, and reporting functions
- Implement AI-powered workflows at client organizations, adapting the playbook developed during your internal phase
- Advise portfolio company CFOs and operators on AI tool selection, data infrastructure, and change management
- Develop reusable frameworks, templates, and methodologies that scale our AI advisory offering across multiple engagements
- Support business development by contributing to proposals, case studies, and thought leadership content
- Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI automation landscape and continuously evaluate emerging tools and platforms

- Ability to translate non-technical business requirements into automated workflow designs
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to finance and operations stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, computer science, or a related field
