Overview
Exact Machine Service is expanding into the material handling and industrial equipment service sector, and we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electro‑Mechanical Field Service Technician to lead this new capability. This role is ideal for a technician with deep experience in overhead cranes, forklifts, hydraulic systems, and industrial electrical systems, who also wants to broaden their skill set into CNC and manual machine repair, rebuilds, and preventive maintenance.
You will be the technical foundation of Exact’s new material handling service offering while receiving cross‑training from our senior CNC technicians to become fully capable across all equipment platforms we support.
This is a customer‑facing, field‑based role with significant autonomy, problem‑solving, and leadership opportunity.
Key Responsibilities Material Handling & Industrial Equipment (Primary Focus)
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, and industrial lifting systems.
- Conduct OSHA‑compliant monthly and annual crane/hoist inspections (¼‑ton to 25‑ton).
- Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC electrical systems up to 480V, including single‑ and three‑phase power distribution.
- Diagnose failures involving motors, brakes, limit switches, VFDs, control panels, and power circuits.
- Perform hydraulic and pneumatic system repairs, including cylinders, pumps, valves, and hoses.
- Troubleshoot CAN bus communication, electronic control modules, and industrial battery systems.
- Provide on‑site emergency service to minimize customer downtime.
CNC & Manual Machine Cross‑Training (Secondary Focus)
- Train alongside Exact’s CNC service team to learn:
- CNC mechanical repairs (ball screws, spindles, way systems)
- Electrical/controls troubleshooting (Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain)
- Preventive maintenance procedures
- Mechanical rebuilds and alignments
- Assist with machine installations, calibrations, and precision mechanical adjustments.
- Support CNC field service calls as training progresses.
Customer Service & Documentation
- Communicate directly with customers to explain findings, repair options, and safety concerns.
- Prepare detailed service reports, inspection forms, and repair estimates.
- Maintain a professional, safety‑focused presence on customer sites.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians as the division grows.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 years of hands‑on experience in electro‑mechanical field service.
- Strong background in overhead crane/hoist service, forklift repair, and industrial equipment maintenance.
- Expertise in:
- AC/DC electrical systems
- Single‑ and three‑phase power
- PLC & VFD diagnostics
- Hydraulic & pneumatic systems
- CAN bus and module diagnostics
- Root cause failure analysis
- Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Strong customer‑facing communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in fast‑paced industrial environments.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
