Position Summary

The Field Emergency Response Project Manager is responsible for managing environmental emergency response projects from dispatch through project completion. This position serves as Ex-Environmental's on-site representative, coordinating cleanup operations, communicating with customers and contractors, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining complete project documentation.

Working directly with nationwide spill management companies, industrial customers, government agencies, and internal field personnel, the Field Emergency Response Project Manager ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and applicable environmental regulations.

This position requires professionalism, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in dynamic field environments.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEmergency Response

  • Respond to environmental emergency incidents after receiving dispatch information from the company's emergency response coordinators.
  • Travel to customer project sites within Ex-Environmental's service region as needed.
  • Conduct initial site assessments to identify project requirements, safety concerns, and response needs.
  • Serve as Ex-Environmental's primary on-site representative throughout the duration of each project.
  • Coordinate cleanup activities with spill management contractors, customers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Remain on-site until released by the customer or contractor.

Project Management

  • Oversee environmental response projects from arrival through completion.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, subcontractors, and materials.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate changing conditions.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer expectations.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues while maintaining project timelines.

Customer Communication

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with nationwide spill management companies, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide timely status updates throughout each project.
  • Communicate project progress, issues, and recommendations to company leadership.
  • Represent Ex-Environmental in a professional and customer-focused manner.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare daily project reports and field documentation.
  • Capture photographs documenting project progress and completion.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor, equipment, materials, and waste disposal activities.
  • Complete documentation required for customer reporting, invoicing, and regulatory compliance.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state environmental regulations.
  • Review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to identify hazards and proper response procedures.
  • Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in required HAZWOPER and other safety training programs.
  • Promote a safe work environment and immediately report safety concerns.

QualificationsRequired

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and mobile technology.
  • Ability to professionally interact with customers, contractors, and regulatory personnel.

Preferred

  • Experience in environmental services, industrial services, construction, remediation, emergency response, or a related field.
  • HAZWOPER Certification (company-sponsored training available for qualified candidates).
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Experience reading and interpreting Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Project coordination or field leadership experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators when necessary.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in non-climate-controlled environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding work.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily at customer locations, including industrial, commercial, transportation, and construction sites. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, hazardous materials, noise, dust, mud, water, and other environmental conditions while performing assigned duties.

Travel & Work Schedule

  • Travel to customer project locations within Ex-Environmental's service region is a regular part of this position.
  • Occasional overnight stays may be required based on project location and customer needs.
  • Because emergency response work is unpredictable, flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when necessary is required.

Pay: $53,743.54 - $64,723.40 per year
