What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host/Busser position at Evviva Trattoria?
Host/Hostess Job Description
1. Hosts are responsible for engaging all guests as they enter the restaurant and making an informed seating choice for them according to the seating plan.
2. It is expected that they know how to handle and manage a wait during busier periods.
3. Hosts/Hostesses are also in charge of facilitating all take- out orders, whether they are walk in or call in. They will be expected to know all products offered
4. Demonstrate responsible cash handling. Also responsible for any discrepancies.
5. Hosts/Hostesses should also actively communicate with the team and jump in wherever needed whether it be helping to turn a table or follow one of our Bussers with food for a table
6. Hosts/Hostesses should wish all guests a fond farewell upon their departure and ask them to come back. Saying good-bye is the best time to reinforce a good experience. 7. Use guests name if possible.
8. Hosts/Hostess will be responsible for the following “side work” items (not limited to). Setup and Break down of the patio seating, maintaining bathroom maintenance throughout the day, maintaining tables to ensure they are looking as visually pleasing as possible, and various other tasks such as washing doors and windows, and maintaining a clutter free work space.
Bussers
1. Busser Team Members “make it happen”, you will be the logistical support to the restaurant, running food, beverages, cleaning and bussing tables, cleaning the floor, emptying bus buckets and more is what your job consist of.
2. Depending on the night, there may or may not be one Busser team member assigned solely to run food.
3. Bussers will learn our floor plan, seat numbers, and steps of service necessary to complete service.
4. As a Busser you will be part of a team that will work together and create an exciting and energetic atmosphere
5. A Busser should be able to be on your feet for long periods of time
6. As a Busser you should possess a knowledge of our menu in order to effectively identify and deliver products correctly
7. Busser should also be willing to perform tasks delegated by managers as needed
