What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor (Battery Assembly) position at EVS Supply?
Tadiran Primary Lithium (LiSOCl₂ / PulsesPlus™)
EVS Supply | Richardson, TX (DFW)
If you’re the kind of leader who builds every product with the expectation that it will be opened a decade from now and work flawlessly, this role is for you.
At EVS, we don’t do “good enough.” We build custom battery packs that power mission-critical applications across industries where failure isn’t an option. As a long-standing battery innovator with U.S.-based manufacturing, ISO 9001:2015 certification, and a reputation built on integrity and exceptional service, EVS is where “precision” and “people” matter equally. This position is a true process-guardian role: you’ll oversee the end-to-end production of custom packs using Tadiran primary lithium cells, including Lithium Thionyl Chloride (LiSOCl₂) and PulsesPlus™ configurations, where safety discipline, traceability, and craftsmanship are non-negotiable.
What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities)
Precision Assembly Oversight
- Supervise the integration of Tadiran primary lithium cells into custom housings and assemblies.
- Lead teams performing precision resistance spot welding, soldering, wiring harness installation, and PCB/protection circuit integration to exact build specs.
Thermal & Voltage Testing (EOL Ownership)
- Oversee End-of-Line (EOL) testing workflows, including open-circuit voltage (OCV) checks and load testing.
- Ensure builds align with expected discharge behavior and performance requirements for high reliability use cases.
Hazardous Material & Safety-Critical Handling
- Enforce strict protocols for storage, handling, and disposition of LiSOCl₂ (Lithium Thionyl Chloride) cells to prevent leakage, thermal events, or unsafe exposure.
- Champion a safety-first culture where the right response is always: pause, assess, contain, document, correct.
ESD Discipline & Electronics Protection
- Maintain a rigorous ESD-controlled environment to protect sensitive PCMs, fuel gauge ICs, and other electronics.
- Train and verify operator compliance (wrist straps, workstation checks, grounded tooling, material flow).
Traceability & Documentation
- Own “lot tracking” discipline: ensure every pack can be traced back to its cell lot/batch, process steps, and verification records, supporting quality audits, warranty analysis, and safety reviews.
What You Bring (Technical Qualifications)
- Strong understanding of series/parallel battery configurations and primary lithium behavior (including high-pulse architectures and pack-level risk controls).
- Hands-on familiarity with production tools such as battery cyclers, automated spot welders, and precision measurement equipment (e.g., multimeters).
- Working knowledge of relevant compliance standards:
- UN 38.3 (lithium battery transportation testing)
- UL 1642 and IEC 62133 (cell/battery safety standards)
- Comfort operating in quality environments aligned to IPC-A-610 workmanship expectations.
Bonus points if you’ve worked with pulse-current management, hybrid layer capacitors (HLCs), passivation/voltage delay behavior, and long-shelf-life build controls.
Safety & Environmental Requirements (Non-Negotiables)
- Demonstrated capability in spill/fire response protocols appropriate to lithium battery environments (including Class D suppression considerations and gas-release awareness).
- Ability to lead production in climate-controlled conditions (humidity/temperature discipline to support shelf life and stability).
- Consistent enforcement mindset: safety controls are not “guidelines”—they are the process.
