What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at Evolved Lighting & Energy?
The Project Manager leads and executes multiple lighting, HVAC controls, low-voltage retrofit, and EV charging projects simultaneously to ensure each is delivered on time, within budget, and to Evolved LE’s standards for quality, communication, and customer satisfaction.
1. Project Execution & Delivery
- Manage 5–7 active projects concurrently (typically $50K–$350K each).
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate project activities from kickoff through closeout.
- Oversee submittals, procurement, scheduling, change orders, and closeout documentation.
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure compliance with all company and customer requirements.
2. Customer Communication & Satisfaction
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers.
- Provide timely updates, proactive communication, and issue resolution.
- Ensure customer expectations are exceeded and positive relationships are maintained.
- Represent Evolved LE professionally and align communication with our company values.
3. Financial Management
- Manage project budgets, monitor labor hours, material costs, and subcontractor expenses.
- Identify and mitigate cost overruns early; drive projects to meet financial targets.
- Prepare and submit pay applications, invoices, and change orders in collaboration with leadership.
- Forecast financial outcomes monthly and report variances to the Director of Operations.
4. Field Coordination
- Support field leaders by ensuring manpower, materials, and equipment needs are met.
- Coordinate lift rentals, dumpsters, deliveries, and tool allocation.
- Provide solutions for field issues promptly — day or night — when operations require.
- Be responsive to calls or texts from foremen and field staff across 1st and 2nd shifts.
5. Scope, Documentation & Administration
- Review drawings, BOMs, and specifications to ensure accurate execution.
- Manage RFIs, scope changes, and customer-driven modifications.
- Maintain project schedules, status reports, and organized documentation in shared systems.
- Contribute to process improvement by identifying efficiencies or recurring issues.
Hiring Arrangement
This role begins as a subcontractor position for a trial period of up to six (6) months.
During this evaluation phase:
- Compensation will be increased in lieu of benefits.
- Candidate performance will be reviewed for accuracy, communication, initiative, and fit with company culture.
- Upon successful completion, the position will convert to full-time employment with access to all company benefits.
Desired Qualifications
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Experience with lighting retrofits and lighting controls as well as general electrical work, HVAC controls, low-voltage, or energy retrofit projects
Required:
- 3 years project management experience in construction or related industry
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills
- Proficiency in Google Workspace / MS Office
- Ability to manage subcontractors, budgets, and project documentation
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based, with frequent travel to job sites (typically within Ohio and with the possibility of overnight stays).
- Field teams operate across 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts and often travel; PM must be responsive by phone to assist foreman and crews as needed.
- Average workweek of 45 hours, with flexibility for workload fluctuations.
- Field site conditions may include lifts, ladders, PPE, and electrical equipment.
Salary : $50,000 - $350,000
