Duties
- Prepare, review, and submit medical claims using billing software and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations that have been denied.
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures utilizing ICD-10, CPT coding, to facilitate precise billing.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, working with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, medical records, and correspondence related to accounts receivable.
- Collaborate with healthcare case managers to verify patient information, insurance details, and ensure proper documentation for claims processing.
- Monitor the status of submitted claims within healthcare claims management systems and escalate issues as needed for resolution.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance coverage, and payment options.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding ( ICD-10, CPT), and healthcare claims management.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and billing software platforms used in medical offices. Knowledge of E-Clinical, Availity/Realmed, and Trizetto a plus
- Knowledge of health insurance policies, benefits verification, and medical records management.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace applications for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex billing data accurately.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with insurance providers, healthcare staff, and patients.
- Prior experience in medical office settings or healthcare claims processing is required. desirable.
