Job Summary
The Payroll Sales Representative is responsible for selling payroll processing and related HR services to businesses. This role focuses primarily on internal sales, working with inbound leads, warm referrals, and existing accounts. You will manage the full sales cycle from the office, prospecting, qualifying, presenting, closing, and building long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect, qualify, and manage internal leads (referrals, inbound inquiries, warm leads) to build a strong sales pipeline. Document status, set reminders, and manage tasks in the CRM
- Conduct product demonstrations and presentations via phone or video to explain payroll and HR solution features
- Collaborate with internal teams (implementation, customer success) to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new clients
- Negotiate contract terms and pricing; close new business opportunities
- Maintain up-to-date CRM records, track sales activities, pipeline, and forecasts
- Monitor compliance, industry trends, and competitive offerings; stay current on payroll regulations
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas
- Provide ongoing relationship management with existing clients to identify upsell opportunities
- Represent the company professionally in all interactions (phone, email, virtual meetings)
- Create and deliver Huddle Calls to generate awareness and leads through the Flip-In Program
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in inside sales, B2B sales, or tele sales
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present effectively
- Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office or similar software
- Ability to work in an office environment and maintain a high level of activity (calls, emails, etc.)
Preferred
- Prior payroll, HR, or HCM (Human Capital Management) sales experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field
- Knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and service delivery
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas

Metrics / Goals
- Meet or exceed defined sales quotas (revenue or number of new accounts)
- Maintain a consistent and accurate activity level (calls, demos, follow-ups)
- Grow pipeline by a set percentage each quarter
- Contribute to client retention and upselling of existing accounts
