The Accounting Manager owns core accounting operations for a growing technology business, including the monthly close, revenue and expense accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting under US GAAP.
The role strengthens the control environment by maintaining SOX-compliant processes, supporting SEC reporting requirements, and partnering with finance, legal, and business teams to produce accurate, audit-ready results on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, flux analysis, and close-calendar management
- Prepare and review US GAAP financial statements, management reporting, and supporting schedules for SEC filings
- Manage revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, leases, fixed assets, and other technical accounting areas as applicable
- Design, document, and operate SOX controls; coordinate testing, remediation, and evidence collection with internal and external auditors
- Maintain the general ledger and accounting subledgers in ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or Workday Financials
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement trends, investigate variances, and communicate findings to finance leadership
- Lead and develop accounting team members while improving close processes, reporting automation, and documentation standards
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a technology, SaaS, or public-company environment
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification or active pursuit preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX requirements, internal controls, and SEC reporting processes
- Hands-on experience with ERP and reporting tools such as NetSuite, Oracle, Workday, Excel, and financial planning or BI platforms
- Proven experience managing the monthly close, account reconciliations, audit requests, and financial statement preparation
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting conclusions to non-accounting stakeholders
- Bonus: CPA license, public accounting experience, IPO or quarterly SEC reporting experience, and familiarity with ASC 606, ASC 718, and technical accounting memos
