Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. This role involves assisting residents with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, home & community care, and experience working with diverse populations including seniors, individuals with autism, dementia, or other disabilities. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans
- Support residents during meal preparation and nutritional needs, including cooking and feeding assistance
- Observe and document patient conditions through patient observation and monitoring techniques
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including Alzheimer's, dementia, or memory care strategies
- Operate specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe resident transfers
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties as needed
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect residents’ privacy and confidentiality
- Assist with transportation or outings within the community when required
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and report any concerns promptly
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental well-being and social interaction
Experience
Candidates should possess relevant experience in long-term or home health care settings, including:
- Group home experience or assisted living facilities
- Working with people with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder
- Dementia or Alzheimer's care experience, including memory care techniques
- Nursing home or hospice care background
- Home & community care experience involving patient monitoring and caregiving tasks
- Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs measurement, and patient safety protocols such as CPR and first aid certification
- Experience working within HIPAA guidelines and maintaining confidentiality in healthcare settings
