Job Description
The Community Health Worker / Benefit Screener is a full-time position responsible for connecting individuals and families to essential community resources and public benefits. This position plays a vital role in supporting clients to our pantry sites and outreach events by providing screenings, referrals, case management assistance with accessing programs such as SNAP, WIC, and Medicaid.
Primary Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Conducting screenings for public benefit programs (SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, housing assistance, etc.).
- Assisting clients with completing benefit applications and gathering necessary documentation.
- Referring clients to community resources and adult enrichment courses offered by Every Day is a Miracle.
- Providing administrative support, including data entry, filing, and documentation management.
- Referring clients to additional services such as healthcare, employment assistance, and mental health resources.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential client records and reports.
- Supporting food pantry distributions and outreach events to identify families in need.
- Collaborating with staff and volunteers to ensure clients receive comprehensive care and follow-up.
- Promoting Every Day is a Miracle’s mission of ending hunger and improving community wellness.
- Network and collaborate with social service organizations to connect clients with essential resources and support.
Qualifications/ Requirements
Education/ Skills:
- All study fields of study are welcome but preferable in the areas of Social Service, Public Health, Health and Wellness. Current students are welcome to apply.
- Qualified candidates will be computer literate and have a strong command of the written and spoken English language.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
- They must have excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- We require someone self-motivated who can work as a team player.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, leadership, and the public.
Compensation and Benefits:
Expected workload of 21-40 hours per week at a rate of $18 per hour. The position follows a hybrid work schedule, combining both remote and on-site work as needed.
