What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Instructor (4th-9th Grade) position at Everwood Day Camp?
Ready to help young musicians find their sound and take the stage? As our Upper Camp Music Instructor, you’ll work with campers ages 10–15 of varying musical abilities, focusing on the fundamentals of live music performance, collaboration, and confidence. You’ll guide campers as they rehearse together and prepare for small group performances, helping them grow both individually and as a band. You’ll lead a group of up to 12 campers for a 35-minute period once a day throughout the week (5 total sessions), allowing time to build skills and strong group dynamics. With the support of 1–2 counselors serving as assistants, you’ll take the lead on instruction and rehearsals. Camp instruments include acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, keyboard, along with microphones for vocal accompaniment. This role runs through our 9 week summer program, from June 22nd to August 21st. Staff training on June 2nd, 4th, and 7th is also required, and adds an additional $200 to the base salary. Regular Camp hours are 8:30am-4:15pm, Monday to Friday. Specialist Instructors are also part of our arrivals and departure team.
IDEAL CANDIDATES
Music students (high school graduates, college students, or recent grads)
School or private music instructors
Education majors or aspiring teachers
Camp staff with a background in performing arts programming
Musicians with experience in ensembles, bands, or live performance settings
DATES, HOURS, AND PAY
8:30am to 4:15pm (this includes a 30-minute break per day)
June 22nd to Aug 21st (9 wks, preferred) or Aug 14th (8 wks) and hours are guaranteed.
Monday to Friday each week except for July 3rd when we are closed.
Salary range is $4225 and up for 9 weeks of work.
Free Camper Tuition for up to 2 children of successful applicants (up to a $14,000 value)
Paid Staff Training (additional $200 total) Tuesday June 2nd 4:30-9pm, Thursday June 4th 4:30-8pm, and Sunday June 7th 9am-4:30pm. All training will have meals provided.
Extra income can be made (up to $1320), working as a Bus Counselor.
LOCATION
Sharon, Massachusetts - but with free bus transportation from all over MA! (Boston, Brookline, Somerville, Newton, Milton, Needham, Wellesley, and more!)
Housing is not included.

Everwood Day Camp is an outdoor focused summer camp featuring many physically demanding activities on land and water. Staff members are regularly required to walk, hike and otherwise move in woods, fields, beaches, and lakes. To perform the job, each staff member of Everwood Day Camp must be physically able to travel around a large rural environment (fields, woods, beach, etc.) over uneven ground on a regular basis.
