Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Master's preferred)
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Special Education certification preferred
- Administrator certification preferred
- Knowledge of special education law, state and federal requirements, and instructional best practices
- Knowledge of curriculum alignment, inclusive practices, and co-teaching models
- Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs
- Ability to provide professional development and instructional coaching
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience in special education
- Experience in instructional coaching, program coordination, or leadership preferred
Instructional and Program Management
- Ensure support of the district's mission, instructional goals, and campus performance objectives.
- Support alignment of special education curriculum with Tier 1 core instruction and grade-level standards.
- Provide guidance and oversight for implementation of specially designed instruction (SDI).
- Promote inclusive practices, including co-teaching and collaborative service delivery models.
- Assist campuses with master scheduling to ensure student access to core instruction in the least restrictive environment.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret student performance data, including data by disability category.
- Support campuses in the development and implementation of progress monitoring systems.
- Monitor effectiveness of instructional programs and interventions to improve student outcomes.
- Assist campuses in closing academic performance gaps for students receiving special program services.
- Provide guidance on accommodations and modifications aligned to individual student needs.
- Support the development and implementation of standards-based IEPs.
- Monitor use of instructional resources and tools, including Unique Learning System, Goal book, and reading programs.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.
- Develop and deliver professional development for special programs staff and campus personnel.
- Provide ongoing coaching and technical assistance to teachers, instructional staff, and administrators.
- Collaborate with campus and district leadership to support instructional priorities.
- Serve as a resource to administrators, teachers, and staff regarding special education instructional practices.
- Communicate effectively with campus personnel, parents, and community stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Maintain punctuality and professionalism in all areas.
- Serve as a positive role model for staff and students.
