Traffic Engineer | Tampa, FL
A well-established civil engineering firm is hiring a Traffic Project Manager to help grow and deliver its Tampa Bay traffic engineering practice. You will work on traffic engineering, signal design, roadway safety analysis, and operational improvements for FDOT and municipal clients across the Tampa Bay region and Florida.
The projects
You will step into a strong active pipeline, including high profile interchange and corridor improvements in the Tampa Bay area (alternatives analysis and preliminary design for safety, multimodal connectivity, and operations), multiple FDOT District 7 Design Build assignments (traffic lead on major widening and interchange work, and Lead Engineer on signalization and ITS packages supporting traffic management and construction staging), Complete Streets and Vision Zero corridor projects, and FDOT, THEA, and municipal on call contracts.
What you will do
Create and execute project work plans, manage analysis and deliverables, and perform engineering analysis and supporting calculations for traffic safety and operations. Coordinate the drafting of deliverables, work alongside senior staff, and act as a key point of contact for clients, agencies, and the DOT. You will also represent the firm at industry and professional events.
What you will bring
A minimum of 10 years of progressive civil transportation and traffic engineering experience, ideally working with public agencies or municipalities (FDOT preferred). Advanced proficiency with CADD, Synchro, HCS, SIDRA, and Vissim. Strong communication and client relation skills, solid organisation, and the ability to work independently and produce complete, reviewable deliverables. Willingness to work at client sites as an extension of their team when needed.
Education and licensure
B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Licensed PE in Florida, or able to obtain within one year.
