Overview
Evergreen Virtual Academy (EVA) is an independently managed, public charter school for Kindergarten through 12th grade students in Oregon. When you join the team at EVA, you join a team of dedicated professionals working all over the state in a virtual environment to ensure the success of our families and students meet their educational needs and goals. EVA is authorized by the North Bend School District and accredited through Cognia.
Important Information about this position:
This is a temporary position for the 25-26 school year with the potential to become a permanent position in the 26-27 school year.

- As per our CBA, steps on our salary scale are not aligned directly with years of
- experience. We cannot give credit for all years of experience upon hire. Most can expect to receive half their years of experience, plus up to 2 additional steps. To determine your salary placement please refer to details on page 37 & 38 of the CBA.
- EVA pays the employee 6% PERS contribution and employer contributions toward health insurance premiums can be found in the CBA.

This is a virtual position with some required in person events and/or PD. For additional
information, please refer to the Events section of the CBA. - The workday is 8am-4pm M-F
Job Summary
Success in this position will be evaluated based on the individual’s ability to support EVA by:
- Creating and implementing grade level curriculum that is aligned to state standards and uses a constructivist pedagogy.
- Modeling and teaching respect with an awareness of diversity.
- Assessing student learning on an ongoing basis and using this information to inform instruction.
- Ability to work as a collaborative team member.

Teaching assigned subjects utilizing course of study and skill sequences consistent with district and school goals and objectives)
- Planning for the instructional needs of all students; attending to the special needs of students; teaching high expectations for student achievement and behavior
- Developing lesson plans and virtual instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Using a variety of assessments to inform instruction.
- Using a culturally responsive and sustaining approach to instruction
- Creating an effective asynchronous learning environment through maintaining functional and attractive online learning homeroom and subject area courses
- Supervising and administering the in-person or remote Oregon Statewide Assessments, including preparation, logistics, and security consistent with state policies and practices
- Attends in-person events and professional development as outlined in the CBA.
- Evaluating academic and social growth of students consistent with the requirements of the school, keeping appropriate records and reports
- Developing and using multimedia instructional materials suitable for various learning modalities of students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities
- Utilizing and incorporating new materials and processes
- Creating and maintaining an active, responsive climate for learning, through positive teacher-student rapport and helping students to develop a positive self-image.
- Communicating with parents through a variety of means
- Holding parent conferences to discuss individual student’s progress and to interpret school programs.
- Participating on a regular basis in professional development at both school and district level to maintain professional competence.
- Meeting state standards for competent and ethical performance
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district, and school policy, and administrative regulations.
- Participates in IEP meetings.
- Establishes good relationships through participating in faculty committees and meetings.
- Shares in the sponsorship of student activities, including specials (electives), clubs, and field trips.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
Communication and Relationship Building:
- Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with students and learning coaches/parents.
- Supports students and learning coaches with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment including basic computer troubleshooting.
- Understands how both diverse and unique characteristics of students and their families impacts required support.
- Works collaboratively with other staff to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among the stakeholders.
- Contact students and/or learning coaches that need extra support and guidance.
- Responds to students, parents, and colleagues in timely manner.
Other Essential Functions:
- Work with support staff, coordinators/specialists, and administrators to support students, collect and analyze data.
- Maintain a tracker to monitor progress of students.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree AND
- 3 years of service in desired position OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) in subject area by TSPC
- Ability to clear required background check.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Appropriate state teaching certification or other license requirements for job title
Physical/Mental Demands
The employee is required to possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Human relations and communication skills are necessary to handle frequent personal and telephone inquiries received from students/families, administrators, teachers, classified employees, and others. Work requests are often received which require immediate attention setting up conflicting priorities for timely response. Sound judgment and a pleasant attitude are required in stressful situations. The employee needs to be able to attend in-person events as needed. The employee needs to be able to lift/move/carry materials, equipment or boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
