Position Description
PARAPROFESSIONAL
Evergreen School District seeks a Paraprofessional to join one of the leading K-8 school districts in the state of Montana. Evergreen’s mission is to enable students to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners by ensuring quality instruction in a nurturing environment. The Paraprofessional assists and supports the classroom teacher with a variety of duties. This position reports directly to the Building Principal and Supervising Teacher.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of classroom and instructional practices
- Knowledge of computer and technology use in educational settings
- Ability to manage student behavior
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides learning experiences through interventions, enrichments activities, or individual instruction
- Prepares instructional materials
- Guides learning and maintains records as directed by classroom teacher
- Data analysis (as required)
- Assumes crosswalk and recess duties as assigned
- Displays outstanding public relations skills
- Assists with all emergency procedures/drills, directs students in emergency and life threatening situations
- Maintains records/charts of student progress
- Use office equipment including computers, smartboards, Chromebooks, and digital resources
- Assist in maintaining a safe learning environment
- Assist with the supervision of tests, standardized tests, state and local assessments, and make-up work
- Assists substitute teachers
- Participates in training programs as assigned
- Actively supervises students to ensure safety during lunch and recess duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to learn new programs and strategies to provide direct instruction to students including learning to increase independence in personal care routines
- Ability to follow directions/lesson plans
- Ability to communicate effectively with adults and students
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to act with initiative, good judgment and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to accurately maintain records
- Ability to learn and operate computer programs and relay that information to young children
- Ability to be creative
- Ability to operate technology used in the classroom and locate information on the Internet
- Ability to support personal care needs while maintaining student dignity
Physical Demands:
- Works inside the school building in a controlled, well-lit environment, as well as outside occasionally in inclement weather
- Attends off-site field-trips with the class
- Occasional lifting of 20 pounds or less
- Interacts with active students
- Sitting, standing, stooping and some stretching and possible participation in Physical Education
Evaluation:
- Performance to be evaluated annually by the Building Principal and/or Program Supervisor
Terms of Employment:
- Hourly, 187 day contract year, Remuneration contingent upon preparation and experience

- Work schedule/hours vary by placement and assignment can be modified as determined by supervisor
