Nature of Work
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor - Athletics, the Sports Camp Program Leader is responsible for teaching and supervising children in the Sports Camps offered by the District.
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor - Athletics, the Sports Camp Program Leader is responsible for teaching and supervising children in the Sports Camps offered by the District.
Essential Functions
- Supervise daily camp activities and aid in the instruction of specialized activities such as flag football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, Frisbee, golf and cheer leading.
- Monitors children by taking name count and number count.
- Report accidents and injuries that occur in camp. Provide first aid as needed.
- Clean up activity area at end of shift.
- Report absenteeism to Athletics Coordinator, and arrange for substitutions.
- Attend orientation and scheduled staff meetings.
- Communicates daily with parents regarding children's activities.
- Interact individually or in groups with the children in order to help them engage in creative/educational play.
- Report any problem situations to the Athletics Coordinator.
- Dress appropriately for camp activities.
- Must possess a highly defined focus towards both internal and external guest service.
- Other duties as assigned.
Management & Supervisory Duties
- Supervision of children in sports camp.
- Supervision of program aides.

- Thorough knowledge of issues relating to and pertaining to children.
- Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Abilities
- Ability to demonstrate activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, parents, the general public, community agencies, and civic organizations.
Required Training, Experience & Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with children.
- Must demonstrate ability to work with children.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
