Job Title: Employment Specialist
Salary Range: $52,000-56,000
FLSA Status: Salaried, Non-Exempt
Location: Skagit County Mission Center
Reports To: Site Manager and Director of Case Management and Employment Services
Job Summary
Responsible for providing job search assistance to students enrolled in Seattle Goodwill’s Job Training & Education Programs, including determining need, planning, and serving groups and individuals. This position will assist with planning, developing and implementing strategies to achieve a wide range of employment opportunities for a diverse population. Essential Functions:
Assess needs of job seekers, determining appropriate level of services and setting clear, attainable goals for employment, and provide effective job search tools.
Provide individual job search assistance to students, including job search, resume and cover letter writing, interview practice, finding job leads, completing applications, etc.
Facilitate labs and teach employment focused workshops.
Responsible to support, advance, and contribute to a DEI framework.
Collaborate with students, staff and managers to purposefully work to implement student centered DEI initiatives.
Attend required meetings, trainings and develop and deliver presentations.
Build professional relationships with students and site staff that facilitate successful outcomes.
Build direct relationships with community service providers, community employment agencies, and area employers.
Maintain clear and accurate case notes in database, and maintain paper and electronic student files.
Present individual cases at monthly meetings, and relay all pertinent student information to Case Management and Employment Services Manager.
Actively participate in staff meetings, community events, and other departmental projects.
Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in social work, social sciences, business, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: Minimum two years’ experience providing job placement services preferred. Experience teaching/training preferred. Experience working in Retail, Hospitality, or a related field a plus.
Specific Skills/Knowledge/Licenses: Knowledge of local employment agencies, knowledge of pre-employment activities (writing resumes and cover letters, etc.), as well as government benefit and employment related immigration policies and procedures.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds with wide ranging skill levels and prior experience.
Solid understanding of the hiring process and workplace expectations for entry-level employees as well as US business culture in general.
Must be committed to creating and sustaining a learning environment in which students feel safe, supported and encouraged; foster an environment that is inclusive, culturally rich, and bias free.
Maintain reliable attendance.
Ability to work independently and has part of a team. Ability to make good decisions without on-site supervision.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn new software as appropriate and necessary to the job.
Bilingual/multilingual capabilities preferred.
Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Essential Physical Abilities:
Able to safely lift/push/pull up to 20-40 lbs., for short distances. Perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms. Be able to work in a dusty environment. Able to traverse a wide variety of physical environments without assistance including uneven surfaces and stairs. Able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and in writing; including those who have limited English skills, large groups and small groups and individuals. Able to use standard office equipment without assistance. Able to maintain reliable attendance.
