About the Position
The Director of Development is a dynamic and strategic leader responsible for designing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies to support Evergreen Goodwill’s mission and growth. This role oversees the Development Team, cultivates high-value donor relationships, and drives innovative initiatives to secure major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships. The Director will ensure robust and diverse revenue streams while fostering a culture of philanthropy across the organization.

Strategic Fundraising Leadership
- Develop and execute a multi-year fundraising strategy to meet annual revenue and organizational goals, with a focus on major gifts, corporate partnerships, and annual-fund growth.
- Lead strategic fundraising campaigns, including special initiatives, mini-campaigns, and capital campaigns.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors, stakeholders, and key volunteers to leverage their networks for fundraising efforts.
- Develop and implement a robust donor engagement strategy to foster meaningful relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a personal portfolio of major donors and prospects, ensuring timely follow-up and customized engagement strategies.
- Oversee and provide support to a seasoned grant-writing team.
- Oversee the development of compelling grant proposals and funding requests.
- Collaborate with program teams to identify fundable initiatives and align proposals with donor priorities.
- Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing development team, providing clear goals, professional development opportunities, and accountability measures.
- Foster a collaborative and performance-driven culture within the team, ensuring a high level of engagement and alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and track progress toward fundraising goals.
- Lead and coordinate the planning, execution, and follow-up of signature fundraising events, donor appreciation gatherings, and other philanthropic activities to enhance donor engagement, reinforce the organization’s mission, and maximize fundraising outcomes.
- Partner with the marketing and communications team to align messaging and create impactful donor materials.
- Serve as a key liaison between development, marketing, and programs to enhance storytelling and donor engagement.
- Work closely with Evergreen Goodwill’s executive leadership, program teams, and finance department to ensure transparency and strategic alignment in fundraising efforts.
- Develop and manage the department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Analyze fundraising metrics and prepare reports for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in nonprofit development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or director-level role
- Demonstrated success in securing major gifts ($50,000 ) from individuals, foundations, and corporations
- Experience developing and executing annual giving programs, corporate sponsorships, and donor stewardship strategies
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams in a complex organizational environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience creating donor proposals, stewardship reports, and campaign messaging
- Experience with donor management systems (e.g., Donor Perfect, Greater Giving, or other CRMs) and data-driven fundraising strategies
- Deep understanding of philanthropy trends and legal regulations related to fundraising
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks during event setup and teardown, including standing for extended periods and safely lifting, loading, and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Strategic thinking with a track record of exceeding fundraising goals
- Ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences, from donors to staff and community stakeholders
