We are grounded in EL Education’s expeditionary learning framework, a research-substantiated model for equitable education with roots in the adventure and leadership organization, Outward Bound. Position Description Teach the eighth grade science and mathematics Standard Courses of Study through an expeditionary learning model, which emphasizes integrated, differentiated instruction, experiential learning, collaborative planning and teaching, student responsibility, and community involvement. Practice formative and summative assessment, provide critical feedback and guidance, establish rapport with students and parents, and work collaboratively with the middle school team. Professional teachers with passion, flexibility, high expectations, consistent classroom management, and a sense of adventure are encouraged to apply. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and North Carolina teacher licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in middle grades math and/or science. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in the teaching of middle grade students. Lived experience that supports connections with groups of students who have diverse racial and ethnic identities. Skills/interests in one or more of the following areas: differentiated instruction, social justice, environmental literacy, character education, and service learning.
