Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the daily accounting operations of the department, including maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with month-end and year-end processes. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger accounts monthly.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Maintain and update financial records, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports and schedules.
- Support the preparation of annual audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Assist with maintaining fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Help with budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Respond to internal inquiries and provide support to other departments as needed.
- Perform additional tasks or special projects assigned by management.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
