Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer / Project Lead to provide technical leadership for enterprise network infrastructure deployments, migrations, and modernization initiatives. This role serves as the primary technical authority responsible for solution design validation, deployment oversight, troubleshooting leadership, and coordination of engineering activities across the project team.
The Lead Engineer ensures successful execution of network implementation activities while maintaining quality, stability, and adherence to technical standards. This role also supports hands-on site assessment, configuration, validation, and troubleshooting as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- 8 years of enterprise network engineering experience.
- CCNP Enterprise certification required.
- Strong experience with Cisco Catalyst switching (9300 preferred).
- Expert knowledge of VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, StackWise and L2/L3 networking.
- Experience leading network migrations and cutover activities.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience producing technical documentation and network diagrams.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CCIE Enterprise certification.
- Cisco DNA Center experience.
- SD-WAN experience.
- PMP or equivalent project leadership experience.
- Multi-site campus network deployment experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Design Validation
- Lead technical execution of enterprise network deployment initiatives.
- Validate network design, configuration standards, and implementation approach.
- Oversee VLAN design, Layer 2/Layer 3 architecture, and switching standards.
- Provide technical direction to deployment engineers during implementation activities.
Network Assessment & Infrastructure Discovery
- Perform site surveys of IDF/MDF rooms and network infrastructure environments.
- Document rack layouts, elevations, power availability and equipment inventory.
- Capture asset data including serial numbers, device models, and port mappings.
- Support cable tracing, validation, and infrastructure discovery activities.
Deployment Oversight
- Lead planning and execution of network deployment and migration activities.
- Coordinate cutover activities and ensure execution alignment across teams.
- Validate hardware readiness, configuration staging and deployment sequencing.
- Oversee implementation quality and adherence to standards.
Configuration & Troubleshooting
- Configure and validate Cisco switching infrastructure (Cisco Catalyst preferred).
- Troubleshoot complex network issues during deployment and migration windows.
- Validate VLANs, EtherChannels, STP behavior and end-to-end connectivity.
- Support resolution of critical network issues during cutovers.
Validation & Quality Assurance
- Perform and oversee network validation and operational readiness testing (Perform connectivity testing including ping, traceroute, and interface validation).
- Validate VLAN functionality, EtherChannel formation and switch connectivity.
- Ensure successful completion of connectivity and performance validation.
- Confirm post-deployment stability and network functionality.
Documentation & Reporting
- Review and validate technical documentation and implementation records.
- Oversee creation of network diagrams and as-built documentation.
- Ensure accuracy of deployment logs, testing results, and final deliverables.
- Provide project status updates to stakeholders.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of formal education.
