Role Description
Everest is seeking a Real Estate Accountant to support its investment and operating platform across multiple verticals, including lending, preferred equity, acquisitions, asset management, and property management.
This is a junior to mid-level accounting role for a candidate with approximately 2–5 years of relevant experience. Strong candidates will have hands-on experience in one or more of the following: property management or real estate accounting, CAM reconciliations, loan servicing, partnership accounting, and/or general construction accounting.
The role offers exposure to both corporate-level and property-level accounting, as well as investment-level reporting across multiple asset classes. The Real Estate Accountant will work closely with the accounting, asset management, investment, and property management teams and will support both active investments and operating assets.
This is an on-site role based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities below reflect the full scope of the role as it develops. Initial day-one responsibilities will be tailored to the candidate's experience and will grow over time as the individual gains familiarity with the platform.
Core Accounting Functions
- Support monthly close process across all verticals.
- Prepare and maintain financial statements, supporting schedules, and reports.
- General ledger review, journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice coding, and cash management.
- Intercompany accounting, entity reconciliations, and internal reporting across the Everest platform.
Property Management Accounting & CAM Reconciliations
- Tenant billing, rent rolls, recoveries, and operating expense tracking.
- CAM reconciliations and related tenant recovery calculations.
- Property performance analysis versus budget, prior periods, and business plan assumptions.
- Coordinate with property management teams to collect and validate property-level data.
Partnership, Loan Servicing & Investment Accounting
- Partnership accounting, including capital accounts, allocations, contributions, and distributions.
- Accounting and reporting for real estate credit investments, including loans and preferred equity positions.
- Investment-level cash flow schedules, distribution tracking, and supporting documentation.
Portfolio, Asset Management & Reporting Support
- Performance tracking across acquisitions, lending, preferred equity, and operating assets.
- Monthly and quarterly reporting packages for internal stakeholders, investors, lenders, and partners.
- Investment-level reporting models, dashboards, and supporting schedules.
- Compile property performance data with the asset management team, including rent rolls, occupancy, leasing activity, revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures.
Transaction, Due Diligence & Closing Support
- Due diligence and closing processes for acquisitions, financings, refinancings, and debt/equity investments.
- Organize and review financial documentation, leases, operating statements, bank records, loan documents, and historical accounting data.
Ad Hoc & Cross-Functional Projects
- Participate in special projects across accounting, finance, asset management, property management, and operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Business, or a related field.
- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant accounting, finance, or real estate experience.
- Hands-on experience in at least one or more of the following areas strongly preferred:
Loan servicing or debt investment accounting.
Property management accounting.
CAM reconciliations and tenant recoveries.
Partnership accounting.
Construction accounting.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle financial accounting, preferably in real estate investing or the construction industry.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, data organization, and financial schedules. Exposure to the full suite of MS Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Experience with Yardi software preferred. Experience with QuickBooks, loan servicing platforms, and other applicable reporting tools a plus.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify variances, reconcile discrepancies, and understand relationships between accounts.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across several entities, assets, and business lines.
- Strong work ethic, curiosity, and willingness to take initiative in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across accounting, investment, asset management, and property management teams.
