The Metal Paint position supports paint prep by assisting in the preparation of metal parts for painting. The primary function is to prime poles and welded frame sign assemblies coming from the sheet metal department and the custom shop. This position completes the metal paint process by applying the finish coat of paint using such quality documents as picks, prints, work procedures/instructions, and checklists. This is achieved by applying the final color of paint on sign cabinets and other aluminum or steel parts that have been primed. Individuals in this position are required to wear and care for a supplied air respirator. They must also be able to use and maintain a cup type spay gun which will require some paint mixing skills. There is also material handling required to move objects on and off working surfaces such as carts and the overhead monorail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate, maintain and clean spray painting equipment

• Mix and match paints, maintain color match

• Spray material to industry standards

• Lift, move, and handle parts

• Manually move parts with hoist assistance

• Inspect and clean overspray from parts/faces

• Clean paint guns using proper cleaning methods

• Prep material, i.e.: scotch pad, da sander, alcohol, etc.

• Fill out daily VOC sheets, accurate recording of records and files

• Fill out traveler sheet

• Additional duties assigned by the supervisor/management as required

• Overtime may be required

• 1 year of industrial painting (preferred)

Experience:

• Painting: 1 year (Preferred)
