Float Teacher & Classroom Support

EverBloom Learning Academy is building its founding team for a new early childhood center in Bloomington. We are creating affordable, high-quality care for children from 6 weeks through age 5, with a welcoming path for ALL families. Our classrooms will blend play-based learning with literacy, STEM, sensory exploration, creativity, social-emotional development, and gross-motor play.

Cleanliness is a whole-center standard. Employees complete the daily health, handwashing, sanitizing, and room-reset responsibilities connected to their roles, with scheduled professional deep-cleaning support. Our food program will prioritize healthy, balanced, child-friendly meals and snacks while following allergy plans and applicable nutrition and food-safety requirements.

The Role

Float Teachers are the people who keep a child care center steady. You will move between classrooms to cover breaks, support busy transitions, assist with opening/closing, and step in when a team needs another calm set of hands. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, adapts quickly, and can give children consistent TLC even when working in different rooms.

What you'll do

• Provide classroom coverage for breaks, planning time, meetings, absences, opening, closing, and high-need transitions.
• Learn and follow the routines, allergy plans, health needs, attendance systems, and expectations of each assigned room.
• Maintain active supervision and ratios while working only within verified role qualifications.
• Engage children warmly in play, stories, music, sensory experiences, outdoor movement, and daily routines.
• Support feeding, safe sleep, diapering/toileting, handwashing, and positive guidance as assigned and trained.
• Help sanitize toys and surfaces, restock supplies, organize shared areas, prepare materials, and reset rooms.
• Communicate important information accurately during every classroom handoff.
• Stay calm and solution-focused when assignments or coverage needs change during the day.
• Participate in required training and contribute to a respectful, happy workplace.

What you'll bring

• At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
• Early childhood assistant qualifications are required; Early Childhood Teacher qualification is strongly preferred for broader coverage assignments.
• Experience with more than one early childhood age group is preferred.
• Flexible, punctual, observant, emotionally mature, and comfortable entering established classroom routines.
• Active Gateways Registry membership, or willingness to complete required registry steps promptly.
• Current pediatric/adult CPR, First Aid, and required trainings, or ability to obtain them by the required deadline.
• Ability to complete required checks, fingerprinting, health documentation, and credential verification.
• Ability to perform essential classroom functions, including getting to children's level and assisting children physically, with or without reasonable accommodation.
