Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

EverBloom Learning Academy
Bloomington, IL Full Time
POSTED ON 8/21/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/18/2026

EverBloom Learning Academy is building its founding team for a new early childhood center in Bloomington. We are creating affordable, high-quality care for children from 6 weeks through age 5, with a welcoming path for ALL families. Our classrooms will blend play-based learning with literacy, STEM, sensory exploration, creativity, social-emotional development, and gross-motor play.

We believe children deserve more than supervision. They deserve genuine TLC: patient comfort, attentive care, warm relationships, positive guidance, and adults who notice what they need. We also believe staff deserve a clean, organized, happy workplace where expectations are clear, help is available, and people treat one another with respect.

Cleanliness is a whole-center standard. Employees complete the daily health, handwashing, sanitizing, and room-reset responsibilities connected to their roles, with scheduled professional deep-cleaning support. Our food program will prioritize healthy, balanced, child-friendly meals and snacks while following allergy plans and applicable nutrition and food-safety requirements.

The Role

Assistant Teachers will work alongside qualified Lead Teachers to provide safe, loving, engaging care throughout the day. You will help children eat, play, learn, rest, build skills, and feel secure while supporting classroom routines, learning experiences, communication, and cleanliness. This is a strong fit for someone who brings patience, energy, dependability, and genuine affection for young children.

What you'll do

  • Support the Lead Teacher in active supervision, ratios, attendance, transitions, and a predictable daily routine.
  • Engage children in conversation, stories, songs, sensory play, art, STEM exploration, outdoor play, and social-emotional learning.
  • Provide attentive TLC and positive guidance while helping children practice independence, communication, and problem solving.
  • Follow assigned procedures for feeding, safe sleep, diapering/toileting, handwashing, illness response, and allergy safety.
  • Prepare materials, reset learning areas, restock supplies, sanitize surfaces/toys, and maintain an organized classroom.
  • Support meals and snacks calmly, encourage children without forcing or bribing them to eat, and follow individual plans.
  • Share observations with the Lead Teacher and help provide accurate daily information to families.
  • Work under the direct supervision of a qualified teacher and never assume duties beyond verified qualifications.
  • Participate in required training, staff meetings, and respectful team problem solving.

What you'll bring

  • At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED; applicants under 18 should apply for the Youth Aide position.
  • Early childhood coursework, Gateways credentials, CDA progress, or licensed-center experience is preferred but not required for every assistant assignment.
  • Patient, dependable, emotionally mature, flexible, and comfortable receiving coaching.
  • Able to work closely with infants, toddlers, and/or preschoolers and respect each child's family, culture, development, and needs.
  • Active Gateways Registry membership, or willingness to complete required registry steps promptly.
  • Current pediatric/adult CPR, First Aid, and required trainings, or ability to obtain them by the required deadline.
  • Ability to complete required checks, fingerprinting, health documentation, and education verification.
  • Ability to perform essential classroom functions, including getting to children's level and assisting children physically, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Why EverBloom

  • A founding-team opportunity with a real voice in building strong routines and a healthy culture.
  • A respectful, joyful, solution-focused workplace where leadership is present and teamwork matters.
  • Weekday scheduling in a purpose-built early childhood center; no regular weekend shifts.
  • Ongoing role-specific training, professional development, and opportunities to strengthen your skills.
  • Clear cleanliness expectations supported by scheduled professional deep cleaning.
  • Purpose-driven work serving Bloomington-area children and families.

How to apply

Apply through Indeed with a current resume. Please describe your degree, early childhood coursework, administration coursework or credential, Gateways status, and licensed-center leadership experience. Candidates selected to move forward will be asked for transcripts, credentials, and references.
