Power & AV Technician - EventRent
Build the power. Bring the sound. Make the event happen.
EventRent is looking for a dependable, hands-on Power & AV Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work behind the scenes of major sporting events, concerts, festivals, and large-scale productions throughout the region.
From powering up event sites and operating generators to setting up professional sound systems and connecting TVs to satellite feeds, you’ll help bring live events to life. You’ll have the opportunity to work on high-profile events, including Boise State Broncos football, Treefort Music Fest, and other major events throughout Idaho and beyond.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with equipment, solving problems, working as part of a team, and seeing the results of their work in action.
What You’ll Do
- Set up, operate, and break down temporary power distribution systems for events.
- Set up, operate, and monitor towable generators and related equipment.
- Run and organize power cables, extension cords, and distribution equipment safely and efficiently.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot professional audio and sound systems, including speakers, microphones, mixers, and related equipment.
- Set up televisions, monitors, and video displays and connect them to satellite feeds and other video sources.
- Run signal cables and assist with audio, video, and power connections across event sites.
- Load, unload, transport, and maintain event equipment.
- Work alongside team members, event coordinators, and other production crews to ensure events are set up correctly and on schedule.
- Troubleshoot equipment and connection issues in fast-paced, live-event environments.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and keep work areas clean and organized.
- Travel to event sites and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as event schedules require.
What We’re Looking For
- A reliable, hardworking person who takes pride in doing the job right.
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in electrical power, audio, video, or live-event production.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and think on your feet.
- Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in changing weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and move event equipment and perform physical work throughout a shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to work nontraditional hours, including nights, weekends, and occasional long event days.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safe work practices.
Experience That Will Make You Stand Out
Experience is a plus, but we’re willing to train the right person who has a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
Relevant experience may include:
- Temporary power distribution and generator operation.
- Electrical work, electrical equipment, or power generation.
- Live sound, audio engineering, or AV installation.
- Television, video, satellite, or signal distribution systems.
- Concert production, festivals, sporting events, staging, or event rentals.
- Construction, equipment operation, or other hands-on technical work.
- Any electrical licensing, generator training, or professional audio/video certifications are a plus. Work involving electrical distribution must be performed within the employee’s qualifications and applicable safety requirements.
What EventRent Offers
- The opportunity to work on major events, including Boise State football and Treefort Music Fest.
- Hands-on experience with professional power, audio, video, and event production equipment.
