Eureka Stone Quarry is seeking an experienced Driller to join our team at our quarry operations in the Pocono, Pennsylvania region. This position is responsible for safely operating drilling equipment to prepare blast holes while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, equipment care, and production efficiency.
Job Summary
The Driller is responsible for operating and positioning drilling equipment at designated locations throughout the quarry to drill blast holes according to established drilling patterns and specifications. This position requires experience operating heavy equipment, performing routine equipment maintenance, completing required documentation, and working closely with quarry management to support safe and efficient production.
Essential Responsibilities
- Safely move and position the drill at designated drilling locations throughout the quarry.
- Operate drilling equipment to drill blast holes according to established drill patterns, depths, and specifications.
- Inspect, maintain, and replace drill bits, hammers, and drill steels as needed.
- Perform daily pre-shift and post-shift inspections of drilling equipment and complete all required inspection reports.
- Monitor and maintain proper fluid levels, lubrication systems, and overall equipment condition.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs, including replacing filters, hoses, gaskets, and other wear components.
- Complete drilling logs, blasting reports, and other required production documentation accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with quarry management regarding drilling schedules, production goals, and inventory of drilling supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the quarry, shop, and equipment areas.
- Assist with other quarry operations and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating quarry or surface mining drilling equipment preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
- Strong understanding of safe work practices around heavy equipment and blasting operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, dependable, and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
