We are seeking a dedicated Small Engine Mechanic to join our service team, specializing in the repair and maintenance of small engines used in lawn equipment, generators, and various power tools. Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in small engines, including lawnmowers, chainsaws, and other outdoor power equipment
- Perform repairs and maintenance using hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to accurately troubleshoot complex engine problems
- Conduct diesel engine repairs when applicable, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Replace worn or damaged parts such as belts, blades, spark plugs, and filters
- Test repaired equipment for proper operation and safety before returning it to customers
- Maintain detailed service records for each repair job and communicate findings clearly to customers
- Assist with inventory management of parts and tools required for repairs
- Uphold safety protocols during all repair procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Small Engine Mechanic or Service Technician with dealership or repair shop background preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge of small engines, including gasoline and diesel models
- Familiarity with schematics, electrical systems, and troubleshooting techniques
- Experience with automotive repair, equipment repair, generator repair, and heavy machinery is advantageous
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, welding apparatus, and diagnostic software
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly
- Ability to lift heavy equipment safely and perform physically demanding tasks regularly
- Basic sales skills for recommending parts or additional services when appropriate
- Valid technical certifications or relevant training in mechanical or electrical systems is preferred
