What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Analyst, Financial and Professional Services position at Eurasia Group?
Eurasia Group’s Financial and Professional Services team assesses the implications of geopolitics and government policy for our clients’ businesses. We conduct bespoke research and analysis for clients across a variety of industries – from banking and insurance, to accounting and consulting, to government agencies and foundations.
We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join our team. The new team member must possess:
Experience and familiarity with the financial sector – The ideal candidate will have worked in one or more areas of the financial services sector, and will have a solid understanding of capital markets, the global banking system, payments systems, and developments in fintech. The candidate should also understand the ways in which geopolitics, fiscal and monetary policy, regulation, and taxation affect these industries.
Research acumen and commercial awareness - We deal with cross-cutting issues that frequently span different geographic regions. Candidates should possess a breadth of knowledge on political and business issues. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to conduct focused, forward-looking research and draw concrete client implications from their findings. This may include qualitative and quantitative analysis, including from primary sources. Candidates should also have a commercial mindset and be willing and able to support the team’s leadership in developing business pitches and proposals.
Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and diligence - Our team members must enjoy intellectual challenges, be thorough and meticulous in their work, and possess the mental flexibility to make connections and apply their knowledge to different situations. We view a desire to deploy innovative research strategies and an eagerness to learn from team-members as indispensable qualities in a colleague.
Professionalism, management skills, and a team-oriented mindset - Candidates should have a confident, professional demeanor. They should be self-directed and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Our team is small and has a very collaborative and collegial atmosphere, so members must be motivated by working towards a common goal and serving clients’ interests.
Preferred qualifications:
- ~6-10 years of work experience (experience at a financial institution, management consulting firm, or other client service preferred)
- Master’s degree, preferably focused on finance, economics, business, policy, and/or international affairs (Bachelor’s degree required)
- Strong professional presentation skills – including speaking, writing, and PowerPoint
- Experience supervising and coordinating work performed by junior team members
- Full business proficiency in English language; additional language skills are a plus
