Duties
- Assist with shelving and organizing library materials using cataloging systems and databases to ensure accurate placement of books, media, and other resources
- Support data entry tasks by updating records in the integrated library system (ILS) and maintaining accurate data collection for inventory management
- Help patrons locate materials, answer questions, and provide excellent customer service to enhance their library experience
- File and organize library materials, ensuring easy access for staff and visitors
- Conduct routine filing of documents, reports, and catalog records to keep the library’s information system current
- Support clerical tasks such as checking in/out materials, managing overdue notices, and processing holds using computer skills and software troubleshooting when needed
- Assist with research requests by retrieving information from databases and supporting library services that meet community needs
Experience
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patrons and team members
- Basic computer skills including proficiency in data entry, software troubleshooting, and familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS) or similar database management tools
- Writing skills for documenting reports or assisting with research requests clearly and accurately
- Prior experience with filing, cataloging, or working in customer service environments is a plus but not required—training will be provided!
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift lightweight materials, and perform routine physical tasks necessary for shelving duties
