We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. Your expertise will contribute to delivering exceptional patient care across multiple specialties, including trauma, cardiovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools with precision.
- Monitor patient vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate throughout surgeries to ensure stability.
- Support patient care by helping with positioning, draping, and ensuring comfort before, during, and after procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or other hospital-specific platforms.
- Sterilize medical equipment following hospital policies to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in trauma centers or emergency settings to provide critical care support during acute situations or complex surgeries.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of surgical instruments, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and sterile techniques.
- Proven experience assisting in various surgical specialties such as orthopedic surgery, cardiovascular surgery assistance, neurosurgery assistance, and trauma care.
- Strong understanding of hospital medicine environments including ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and ambulatory surgery centers.
- Competence in data collection related to patient vitals and treatment progress; analysis skills for assessing procedural needs.
- Familiarity with medical equipment operation and sterilization processes; experience with endoscopy and other minimally invasive procedures is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in Level I or Level II trauma centers with acute care demands.
- Knowledge of infection prevention strategies including aseptic technique and healthcare infection control practices.
- Excellent patient care skills combined with the ability to support treatment of fractures, treatment of trauma injuries, and management of complex cases involving multiple systems.
