Job Summary
Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring two (2) Groundskeepers to work under the Learning College philosophy
(http://www.estrellamountain.edu/learning-college) where learning happens anytime, anyway, any place. This position performs a full
range of grounds maintenance duties and assists in various related construction and landscaping projects.
Essential Functions
50% - Mows lawns, weeds, plants, trims, prunes trees, fertilizes, maintains irrigation systems, uses blower or sweeps walkways, and
building entryways, and keeps assigned areas free of trash and landscape debris; maintains campus grounds.
20% - Digs trenches, cultivates, plants and transplants, spreads mulch, rakes leaves/debris.
20% - Operates various grounds equipment, such as tractors, mowers, edgers, trimmers, spreaders, aerators, top dressers, etc.
10% - Sets up facilities for special events including layout and maintains other special venues according to the user’s request or
published specifications; other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Desired Qualifications
A. Experience maintaining hoses, supplies, tools, and equipment in proper condition and repair
B. Experience with planting & transplanting vegetation, cultivating, watering, irrigating, ornamental plants, shrubs, hedges, trees, and
flowers
C. Experience operating small and medium-size trucks and various lawn maintenance equipment
D. Experience maintaining irrigation and sprinkler systems
Special Working Conditions
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://business.maricopa.edu/risk-management/motor-vehicle-usage/motor-vehicle-driving-requirements
