POSITION SUMMARY
This position will work with the Marketing Manager to create a clear and consistent brand message and implement this branding to enhance the district’s image and position within the marketplace, region and state. The position is responsible for working with staff to help promote District programs and services using graphics, social media and AI communication. This employee’s work schedule will be part-time, 20-25 hours per week and the schedule will vary based on business needs. Some weekends or evenings may be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and execute web-based and social media communication initiatives to inform and engage the public about the district’s programs, initiatives and services.
- Produce high quality content for inbound and outbound marketing efforts; make complex concepts easily understandable.
- Create content for multiple mediums for clients including but not limited to websites, social media, emails, press releases and advertisements.
- Provide advice and assistance to the district’s multiple departments and management teams on marketing, communications and public relations.
- Work with the Marketing Manager to develop and implement creative branding strategies to position the District and Community Recreation Center as the leader in recreational services to the Estes Valley area.
- Ensure brand message is consistent.
- Monitor social media for community feedback, comments, and messages, and respond promptly when necessary.
- Create short videos to promote awareness of the district’s efforts, accomplishments and staff.
- Identify and address concerns or questions from the community, escalating issues when necessary.
- Track outreach activities and report on key metrics, including event attendance, engagement levels, and community feedback.
- Assist in analyzing the effectiveness of outreach campaigns and suggest improvements
- Act as representative with the media; authorizes articles and interviews regarding organization's promotional activities and ensures adherence to corporate identity standards.
- May develop and distribute outreach materials (flyers, brochures, newsletters, videos) to target groups.
- May work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to seek public input via pulse surveys and/or coordinate with department managers to leverage various POS systems feedback resources.
- Other duties as required and assigned.
OTHER DUTIES
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to engage with community members at community events, meetings and forums to promote awareness and build relationships with stakeholders, community members and organizations.
- Analyze, interpret, and comply with government rules and regulations.
- Assist with identifying grant opportunities, grant concept development, and grant writing as needed.
- Keep informed of developments and trends in the fields of marketing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Knowledge of general theories and principles of public relations, marketing and organizational communications.
- Knowledge of principles of customer service and public relations in governmental settings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and inform diverse audiences in person, over the phone, in email & writing.
- General knowledge of the principles of graphic design and layout.
- Ability to write and produce brochures and other materials for presentations.
- Ability to make effective oral presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Ability to effectively communicate with the public and collaborate and partner with local jurisdictions and agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues using own initiative, under minimal supervision, time pressure, and in difficult situations.
- Knowledge of taking digital photographs/video footage with digital camera.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, desktop publishing and Adobe.
- Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One (1) to two (2) years working professionally on social media platforms, email marketing tools, and basic graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite.) and experience in public outreach, communications or a related role or equivalent combinations of education and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, journalism, public relations or related field
- Experience with public sector/local government marketing/communication.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Potential to be a hybrid work environment.
- Work is performed indoors in a busy office type environment with noise and frequent interruptions.
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Requires the ability to drive between various locations and occasionally transport supplies during the performance of the job duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with arms and hands, and; regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
