Position Overview
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role serves as a key resource for payroll administration, audits, tax reporting, and employee payroll inquiries, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll for multiple employee groups and classifications.
- Ensure payroll activities comply with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Review and validate employee time records, shift differentials, overtime calculations, incentive payments, bonuses, and other earnings adjustments for accuracy.
- Administer payroll-related deductions, garnishments, benefits withholdings, and other payroll transactions.
- Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Prepare, reconcile, and submit payroll tax filings and related reports to local, state, and federal agencies.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and system-related issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support payroll reporting, month-end activities, audits, and special projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, and operational teams to ensure accurate employee data and payroll processing.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
Experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of payroll administration, payroll analysis, or related experience.
- Experience processing payroll for multiple employee populations preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong knowledge of payroll practices, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with payroll software systems; experience with ADP preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment, discretion, and integrity.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Computer Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
- Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with union payroll processes and collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience with payroll audits, tax compliance, and reporting requirements.
