Scopist, Certified Reporter

As a Scopist, Certified Reporter, you’ll play a crucial role in producing error-free, accurate legal transcripts by reviewing final and near-final transcripts alongside audio. You will uphold Esquire’s high standards for transcript quality, work collaboratively with reporters and internal teams, and contribute to smooth, timely legal processes. This role requires a commitment to precision, confidentiality, and excellent communication.

This position requires prior professional experience scoping, editing, or producing legal transcripts, along with a strong command of legal transcript conventions and CAT software. Candidates must be willing to provide sample transcripts or comparable work samples as part of the selection process to demonstrate their experience, accuracy, and transcript-editing proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and proofread legal transcripts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and formatting according to Esquire’s style guides
• Verify transcript content against audio to ensure a verbatim and error-free record
• Prepare final transcripts by applying digital signatures and submitting for production
• Maintain proper archival of files and complete all required reporting and logs
• Prioritize and organize workload effectively to meet deadlines and accommodate changes
• Support service partner programs by providing timely communication and quality assurance
• Promote and model Esquire’s values in daily work and team collaboration

What You’ll Need

• Experience: Prior professional experience scoping, editing, proofreading, or producing legal transcripts is required. Candidates should have demonstrated experience working with deposition, court, or other verbatim legal transcripts.
• Certification: Arizona Certified Court Reporter (CCR) certification is required
• Work Samples: Candidates must be willing and able to provide sample transcripts or comparable transcript-editing work samples during the selection process
• Technical: Proficiency with CAT software editing tools and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with digital transcript workflows and archival methods; Minimum touch-typing speed of 70 wpm with a high degree of accuracy
